HIVEMIND Community Apiary has been awarded an Australia Post People of Post community grant.<\/p>\n
The social and therapeutic beekeeping organisation, which aims to support young people at risk of living with mental health challenges, has received $2000 for the Planet Bee program.<\/p>\n
HiveMind has partnered with YMCA to offer introduction workshops before the young people attend the community apiary.<\/p>\n
The course, all about the importance of bee pollination and honey, has been designed for the young people and their parents or guardians to connect.<\/p>\n
“At the heart of this initiative is Australia Post team members, who witness first-hand the incredible work community groups do every day across Australia,” said Australia Post general manager community and stakeholder engagement, Nicky Tracey.<\/p>\n
“Our People of Post grants give them the chance to give back.<\/p>\n
“At a time where cost of living is high, it’s great that Australia Post can help make a lasting impact to some of Australia’s most pressing issues.<\/p>\n
“We also know community groups are pivotal in fostering a sense of belonging and making a positive difference to individuals every day, which is particularly important at a time where one in seven Australians experience social isolation and loneliness.”<\/p>\n
The national postal service runs the People of Post Grants program with an aim of backing grassroots Indigenous children’s literacy and learning, mental health, disaster and resilience, environment and sustainability initiatives, and boosting good social outcomes.<\/p>\n
Grants of up to $2000 are provided to successful applicants.<\/p>\n
