THE Ballarat Miners have collaborated with the City of Ballarat to create their Heritage Round uniform.<\/p>\n

The design uses artwork by Ben Sanders, which is on display at the Ballarat Visitor Information Centre, and highlights iconic locations around the city.<\/p>\n

The design features Lake Wendouree, boat sheds, the Olympic rings, swans, Deanne Gilson’s indigenous sculpture Murrup Laarr in North Gardens, Sovereign Hill’s poppet head, the Arch of Victory, and the Town Hall.<\/p>\n

The artwork also references the meaning of Ballarat from local Aboriginal words, balla and arat, meaning a camping or resting place.<\/p>\n

Basketball Ballarat partnerships and marketing manager, Chris Thornton, said it was great to work with the City on this project.<\/p>\n

“This uniform represents the stories, history and heritage that make our team\/association and town unique,” he said.<\/p>\n

“The strip celebrates the city and all those who call it their home, whilst aiming to solidify the connection between the team, players (past and present), and the city as a whole.”<\/p>\n

The Miners first wore the jerseys earlier this month against the Bendigo Braves but they will be worn for the first time at home games this Saturday 15 June against Dandenong.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
