GRAMPIANS Health has published an environmental plan which looks at increasing sustainability and reducing greenhouse gas emissions at facilities.<\/p>\n
The aim is to create more environmentally friendly services through energy-efficient systems, green building practices, and waste reduction strategies.<\/p>\n
CEO Dale Fraser said the plan demonstrates that Grampians Health is leading by example in addressing climate change.<\/p>\n
“With climate change posing significant challenges globally, especially impacting the health of communities and the environment, Grampians Health is dedicated to taking proactive measures,” Mr Fraser said.<\/p>\n
“The next decade is crucial, and we are committed to immediate action.”<\/p>\n
Chief redevelopment and infrastructure officer Veronica Furnier-Tosco said the plan provides a clear roadmap for Grampians Health staff to plan for the future.<\/p>\n
“Our targets support the Victorian Government’s climate change strategy to reduce the state’s emissions from 2005 levels to net-zero emissions by 2050,” she said.<\/p>\n
As part of the plan, a taskforce has been developed to help achieve the goals.<\/p>\n
“Our taskforce is committed to ensuring our responsible use of environmental and financial resources to reduce waste generation, focusing on prevention, reduction, recycling, and repurposing to minimise negative effects on human and environmental health,” said Sam Harris, environmental and sustainability officer.<\/p>\n
