THE Design Exchange Market will be offering affordable fun for the entire family next weekend.<\/p>\n

Entry to the two-day event held at the Mining Exchange is free for children or $5 for adults, and Design Exchange Market founder, Lyndelle Flintoft, said it is the perfect day out.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s important for us to create an outing that is affordable with under 18s getting in for free,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe trying to do our part in making sure the community has things to do when times are really tough.\u201d<\/p>\n

There will be kids shows, facepainting, artisan food and drinks, and more than 50 stalls by independent designers.<\/p>\n

On the Saturday night, the building will come alive with a DJ and whisky bar, which will have a warm and cozy atmosphere.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got a little whisky bar happening and mulled gin and whiskies,\u201d said Ms Flintoff.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just making it nice and cozy and warm with lots of new stallholders which is great.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor $5 entry they can come in and have free music and entertainment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kids entry is free and there will be a variety of entertainment on offer.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

The evening will be great for families with elements appealing to both adults and children.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a nice time to do some family stuff where parents can have a responsible drink and there is music so the kids can be dancing,\u201d said Ms Flintoff.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are about a family environment and fun and shopping and eating.\u201d<\/p>\n

The mission of the market is to encourage people to shop sustainably, and Ms Flintoff said the event is a great way to introduce the concept to children.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s super important for us to support small designers and local manufacturers instead of large conglomerates,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cPutting that in front of children and having them entertained but also through a different way of shopping is a great way to change things up.\u201d<\/p>\n
