{"id":104341,"date":"2024-07-12T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-11T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=104341"},"modified":"2024-07-11T13:15:16","modified_gmt":"2024-07-11T03:15:16","slug":"dream-comes-true-for-olympic-highjumper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/sport\/dream-comes-true-for-olympic-highjumper\/","title":{"rendered":"Dream comes true for Olympic highjumper"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WENDOUREE Athletics Club highjumper, Yual Reath will compete at the Paris Olympic Games this month with the Australian Olympic Team.<\/p>\n<p>The athlete&#8217;s place on the squad was officially announced on Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was mind blowing to hear, and it felt like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Now I&#8217;ve got a clear head to get into the next competitions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a dream come true, from ranking not even in the top 100 in the world in August to top 12, and now going to the Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My coach Paul Cleary has had a belief in me since day one. To be going there, it really is a dream come true for sure.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m going for number one.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Reath is the ranked number one in Australia and his personal best is two metres, thirty centimetres.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2024\/07\/IMG_5403_38065.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Yual Reath is ranked first in Australia in men&#8217;s high jump.
