FROM now until late October, the Lake Wendouree Museum is housing a varied assortment of artworks courtesy of the Ballarat Society of Artists.<\/p>\n
The collection comprises about 40 pieces from 16 of the group’s members as part of their Eclectic Views exhibition.<\/p>\n
BSA assistant secretary Sue Clarke said the show’s title refers to the range of mediums, subjects, and locations on display.<\/p>\n
“One of our artists suggested the title because of the wide variety of artwork,” she said.<\/p>\n
“It’s quite eclectic as far as the types of art, there’s printmaking, acrylic, watercolours and a variety of buildings and themes.<\/p>\n
“There’s a few different topics from birds to flowers to landscapes, and quite a few images of buildings and place around Ballarat.<\/p>\n
“Amanda Western has one of Craig’s Royal Hotel. There’s one of Reid’s Guest House from Cathryn O’Connor. It’s nice to see these buildings.”<\/p>\n
The show marks the third year in a row BSA members have exhibited at the museum and the partnership has been mutually beneficial.<\/p>\n
“Last Sunday was our first day and 85 people came in. It’s been a great opportunity for some of our newer members who haven’t exhibited with us before,” Clarke said.<\/p>\n
“It’s also opened the doors to the [Golden City Paddle Steamer and Museum Society] and been a fantastic arrangement…for the museum because so many people probably don’t know it’s there.”<\/p>\n
The exhibition can be viewed from 10am to 3pm on Sundays. Artworks and cards are available for attendees to purchase.<\/p>\n
A portion of commissions will go towards the museum’s management, the Golden City Paddle Steamer and Museum Society. The museum is located at 27 Wendouree Parade.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
