ARTWORKS by second year Federation University Australia Bachelor of Visual Arts students are on display at Unicorn Lane.<\/p>\n
The exhibition Impressions: Explorations in Printmaking is on display until Wednesday 21 August and showcases the skills students have learnt within printworking.<\/p>\n
Students exhibiting are Alyssa Goodwin, Jennifer Hart, Brielle Hogan, Clayton Keefe, Rachel King, Blythe Plier, Tahlia Roberts and Izzie Sterk.<\/p>\n
“I think it means a lot to a lot of different but people but personally for me the Impressions exhibition is about your perspective and view on the world,” said Sterk.<\/p>\n
“With printmaking especially, it allows you to see the world in a new view especially when you’re doing something like photogravure.”<\/p>\n
Sterk created two works for the exhibition, and she used the photogravure technique with images of shells and crochet.<\/p>\n
“It allows you to take a photo and through a process of placing this image on a plate, inking it up and placing it on a piece of paper, it’s almost as if you can see what the person intends you to see from this photo, which you often don’t get through just photography,” she said.<\/p>\n
“The photos I used were photos I had taken out and about and photos of my own artwork.”<\/p>\n
Sterk said she hopes her artworks evoke a sense of playfulness with viewers.<\/p>\n
“Gathering seashells is something that a lot of people don’t normally do after the end childhood and it was more a nod to being a child again and connecting with that inner child,” she said.<\/p>\n
“I hope that they can connect with their inner child a little bit when they see my works.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
