{"id":104875,"date":"2024-08-01T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-31T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=104875"},"modified":"2024-08-02T15:01:05","modified_gmt":"2024-08-02T05:01:05","slug":"learning-opportunities-at-expo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/learning-opportunities-at-expo\/","title":{"rendered":"Learning opportunities at expo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than eighty organisations, employers, and job and education seekers have gathered at the Civic Hall and Goods Shed for the Ballarat Jobs and Training Expo<\/p>\n<p>The event, held last Friday, provided attendees with an opportunity to talk to industry professionals, take part in workshops and network.<\/p>\n<p>It was organised by BGT jobs and training Ballarat and Julie Butler, business development manager, said there was a great range of attendees.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s been amazing, we&#8217;ve had lots of school kids come through but not only school kids, parents as well and careers teachers, so it&#8217;s been a mixed bag of people,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve made lots of new contacts and set up lots of appointments to go talk to schools which is great.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A range of information was on offer such as live job vacancies, potential apprenticeships, and traineeships and volunteering opportunities.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2024\/08\/TheGoodsShed_00426.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The event featured more than 80 organisations and was held at the Goods Shed and Civic Hall.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>One of the exhibitors was MaxiTRANS, and trainer and assessor Josh Pearce said it was a great way to interact with the wider community.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s to let people know we are being involved in the community and to tell them about us in general since the new owners have come in,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It shows people a bit more about who we are in general.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Attendees at the MaxiTRANS display were able to learn about the company&#8217;s history, chat about job opportunities and have a go at a welding simulator.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Butler said the feedback was positive and attendees enjoyed being able to chat to different employers in the same location.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They can just walk around, talk and get a bit of guidance on different careers that are available out there,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than eighty organisations, employers, and job and education seekers have gathered at the Civic Hall and Goods Shed for the Ballarat Jobs and Training Expo The event, held last Friday, provided attendees with an opportunity to talk to industry professionals, take part in workshops and network.
