CITY of Ballarat officers are planning a major shared path project for Ballarat East.<\/p>\n

The path would connect Barkly Street to Warrenheip Gully and Pennyweight Gully via Callow Street, as the first stage of a multi-staged project that eventually could connect to Woowookarung Regional Park.<\/p>\n

It would be designed to benefit those walking, cycling, scooting, pushing a pram and people with accessibility issues.<\/p>\n

The path would aim to connect recreational spaces with other open areas and provide better safety with an improved crossing point over Main Road.<\/p>\n

“If you live in Ballarat East, or use this area, it is your chance to help shape the path to benefit you and highlight things you would like to see in the area,” said City of Ballarat mayor Cr Des Hudson.<\/p>\n

“The shared path supports an active and healthy community and provides alternative transport opportunities for those not wanting to rely on their car all the time.”<\/p>\n

Concept designs have been prepared and are open now for public feedback.<\/p>\n

People can have their say on aspects of the project such as safety of pedestrians and bikes, the level of tree canopy cover including the types of plants and trees to be used, general amenity such as rest stops and seating, and pedestrian crossings.<\/p>\n

The public consultation process will run until 27 August.<\/p>\n

The community can examine the concept designs, access more information, ask questions and provide feedback via the city’s MySay page at mysay.ballarat.vic.gov.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hard copies of the concept designs can also be viewed at the City of Ballarat customer service centre at 25 Armstrong Street South between 8.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
