CITY of Ballarat staff are looking for the community’s feedback on improving the safety of some of the city’s walking and cycling corridors.<\/p>\n
Five locations have been chosen including Wendouree Parade, Creswick Road, links from Gillies Street to Lucas, Forest Street, and the Sutton Street shared path.<\/p>\n
Mayor Cr Des Hudson said the feedback of residents who already use these links will be important to making them safer.<\/p>\n
“As Ballarat grows, it is important that both locals and visitors can get around safely and comfortably, whether they are walking, cycling or driving,” he said.<\/p>\n
At Wendouree Parade, feedback is being sought on how to give priority to pedestrians and cyclists on the lake foreshore and potential connections to Victoria Park, Wendouree Railway Station and nearby schools.<\/p>\n
A more continuous and safer route is being sought at Creswick Road, and between Gillies Street and Lucas, existing service roads will be used where possible to create safety improvements such as crossings, speed management, wayfinding and other interventions.<\/p>\n
Feedback for these three connections is open until Thursday 5 September on the MySay website.<\/p>\n
Feedback on the Forest Street Active Transport Corridor project was collated in March and April this year and concept designs have been developed based on community consultation.<\/p>\n
The final designs will be shared with the community in the new year.<\/p>\n
Construction is also set to begin for a 1.2-kilometre shared path from Victoria Park past Morshead Park, via Sutton Street. It is anticipated to be completed by the end of the year.<\/p>\n
The path is the first stage of a network linking Victoria Park to Doug Dean Reserve and eventually west to Kensington Creek Reserve and Delacombe Town Centre.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
