A NEW fiery festival will take place at Sovereign Hill later this year.<\/p>\n

The program for the inaugural Food, Fire and Light Festival has been revealed and is set to showcase history, art, culture, music and food.<\/p>\n

The event will be held across two weekends and is designed to provide an immersive sensory journey under the night sky.<\/p>\n

“All of our inspiration at Sovereign Hill comes from the beautiful stories we interpret from history and cultural heritage,” said Sovereign Hill Museums Association CEO Sara Quon.<\/p>\n

“Fire was the heart of everything during the goldrush; it brought people together to socialise, cook and survive.<\/p>\n

“It was critical from an industry and productivity point of view.”<\/p>\n

Visitors’ experiences will commence with a Welcome to Country in the outdoor museum’s new Wadawurrung Cultural Precinct.<\/p>\n

“I think it’s a really special time to celebrate our connection to Wadawurrung,” said Ms Quon.<\/p>\n

“Our Cultural Precinct will just have launched and we’re celebrating with Food, Fire and Light.”<\/p>\n

Central to the festival will be warming food with smoky meats from Oakwood Smallgoods, s’mores and caramelised cr\u00e8me brul\u00e9 by Morgan Hipworth, and Fettuccine Cacio e Pepe tossed in a wheel of melted Parmigiano Reggiano by Carboni’s Italian Kitchen.<\/p>\n

Visitors can walk through a tunnel of fire, see roving performers, and see waterfall pyrotechnics cascading from the Poppet Head.<\/p>\n

“It’s the first time that we’ll be opening our new events precinct which is just outside the current museum,” said Ms Quon.<\/p>\n

“That will be illuminated as a valley of light, and we are just really excited to see that space come to life.”<\/p>\n

The Food, Fire and Light Festival will be on from 5pm to 10pm on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 October, and Friday 18 and Saturday 19 October.<\/p>\n
