UPGRADES to improve three cycling and pedestrian connections from Sebastopol to the Yarrowee Trail are complete.<\/p>\n
Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison marked the occasion on behalf of Gayle Tierney, Minister for Regional Development, with City of Ballarat mayor Cr Des Hudson at a new viewing area and shelter in Orion Street.<\/p>\n
The project was funded with $1.2 million from the City of Ballarat and as part of the State Government’s $5 million Spotlight on Sebastopol program.<\/p>\n
The upgrades included the corner of Orion Street and Rubicon Streets to create a parkland a viewing area and shelter, the Yuille Station Park site at Vickers Street to improve picnic facilities and car parking, and at Docwra Street to create a gateway to the start of the Yarrowee Trail.<\/p>\n
“Through the Allan Labor Government’s transformative Spotlight on Sebastopol we are making Sebas an even better place to live,” said Ms Addison.<\/p>\n
“The completion of the $1.2 million Yarrowee River Trail delivers three new connections to allow people to gather and connect with nature as well as new pathways, picnic areas and shelters.”<\/p>\n
Works to complete two additional projects which are part of the spotlight on Sebastopol program are still underway.<\/p>\n
This includes the off-road Herford Street bike path and the Victoria Albert streetscape project.<\/p>\n
“I am pleased to see the progress being made on the Hertford Street Bike Path,” said Ms Addison.<\/p>\n
“Our investment of $946,000 for the dual direction bike land and share path, this will be of particular benefit to Phoenix students and staff who chose to cycle to school.<\/p>\n
“Through the $5 million Spotlight on Sebastopol projects we are improving amenity, whilst maintaining and promoting the unique identity of Sebastopol.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
