{"id":106627,"date":"2024-10-04T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-03T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=106627"},"modified":"2024-10-02T18:48:14","modified_gmt":"2024-10-02T08:48:14","slug":"art-show-a-tour-of-tools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/living\/art-show-a-tour-of-tools\/","title":{"rendered":"Art show a tour of tools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE concept of the tool, its uses, benefits, and various forms, will soon be explored as part of a new art exhibition at Kank Wolverang Records.<\/p>\n<p>Launching this weekend, curator Kristine Allan said the show&#8217;s topic, much like the eponymous avian in her previous Festival of the Owl exhibition, is a malleable subject for local artists to tackle.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A tool is something that can be interpreted in a lot of different ways,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is to see what the 17 artists involved consider a tool to be. It&#8217;s interesting to see everyone&#8217;s different take on the same theme.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s 2D drawings and original representations, there&#8217;s the behaviour of tools in that colloquial term, there&#8217;s some who&#8217;ve interpreted it as a mirror or guitar, tools we use to enhance our everyday lives&#8230;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 601px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2024\/10\/TimDentonTheSchool_36415.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"601\" height=\"397\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tim Denton&#8217;s The School<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Even spiritually, someone&#8217;s created the devil, and the devil can be a tool. Images: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Allan drew inspiration for the show from childhood memories.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I decided to do this show when I was doing the owl one because they&#8217;re both something I wanted to explore,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think much of it is memories of seeing tools in my grandfather&#8217;s and dad&#8217;s old sheds. Old garden tools are amazing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They just have so much character but I think much of it is relating back to my childhood.
