NEVERLAND is only as far as Mount Rowan Secondary College this weekend as BLOC Music Theatre’s junior ensemple perform the musical Peter Pan at the school’s performing arts centre.<\/p>\n

Forty young performers are part of the local cast of diverse abilities and experiences bringing the classic story to life.<\/p>\n

The show has been directed by Cooper Guinea, musically directed by Trish Dulude, the choreography is by Zanaye McKee, choral direction is by Rob Muirhead, and Meg Rogers is stage manager.<\/p>\n

Guinea said the production is a fresh take on the tale known for iconic characters including Peter Pan and Wendy, the Lost Boys, and Captain Hook.<\/p>\n

“I’ve gone back to the original novel and a lot of the ideas have sprung from that, including the set design,” he said. “It’s something new and magical and makes it fun for all ages.<\/p>\n

“It’s the perfect school holiday activity, and a nice new adventure.”<\/p>\n

Ms Rogers said the show is an opportunity for young people to learn and skill up.<\/p>\n

The live band features young people, or musicians who have only just graduated.<\/p>\n

“A lot of my stage crew are just kids themselves getting experience,” said Ms Rogers. “It’s a good stepping stone for all cast a creatives to build their theatre skills.”<\/p>\n

Shows will be staged tonight, Friday 4 October 7.30pm, Saturday 5 October 1.30pm<\/p>\n
