I have a strong connection to the Golden Point ward through teaching and community groups but live just south of the new boundary in the Buninyong Ward.<\/p>\n

How long have you lived in your ward?:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Eight years.<\/p>\n

Community involvement:<\/strong><\/p>\n

As a teacher I have witnessed the diverse needs of families across Ballarat while teaching and volunteering at many schools, primarily in Canadian, Alfredton and Mount Clear.<\/p>\n

As a mother of two small children I use council services daily and know our community couldn\u2019t do without resources like maternal child health nurses, kindergartens, our wonderful libraries, the parent place, playgroups and community centres.<\/p>\n

I have been doorknocking throughout the entire Golden Point Ward and participating in a range of community events.<\/p>\n

Associated with a political party or movement?:<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am not endorsed as a candidate by any party but am a member of the Australian Labor party.<\/p>\n

I believe party politics has no place in the council chamber and if elected I will address each matter in accordance with its merits, my values and what is best for residents.<\/p>\n

Preferencing:<\/strong><\/p>\n

I trust that members of our community can make the best choices for themselves so I won\u2019t be preferencing any other candidates.<\/p>\n

Campaign budget? Receiving financial support?:<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am self-funded and raised funds through events with friends, family and supporters to help cover costs. I don\u2019t have a specific budget.<\/p>\n

Three most important issues in your ward?:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ensuring Golden Point Ward isn\u2019t left behind. The city has a heavy focus on the growth areas in the west and big projects in the centre but all areas of Ballarat deserve a fair share of the city\u2019s funding… Some areas are doing well while others aren\u2019t even getting the basics.<\/p>\n

Prioritising genuine consultation with the community before decisions are made…<\/p>\n

Improving safety… Roads, footpaths, street lighting, crossings, speed humps, all of these are simple things that make people feel safer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
