NOT-for-profit organisation BGT Jobs and Training has celebrated the achievements of students at a graduation ceremony held at Barkly Square.<\/p>\n
The event held last week saw staff, existing and former students, their family and friends come together to recognise their efforts.<\/p>\n
One of these students was Adam Earles, who completed a Certificate III in engineering and works at Freighter Group.<\/p>\n
Mr Earles received the Achievement Award after facing several difficulties while completing his training.<\/p>\n
“Over the past couple of years, I’ve had a lot of medical issues with my children, my partner’s had a lot of medical issues,” he said.<\/p>\n
“Between that, juggling work, life and my children… it was very stressful at times, but we got there with the help from BGT.”<\/p>\n
Mr Earles said it was his passion for engineering and the trainers that pushed him to complete the course.<\/p>\n
“I really like the trade, building stuff with my hands, all that sort of stuff that is in line with the trade,” he said.<\/p>\n
“Paul Dickman, my trainer for most of my apprenticeship, really pushed for me to stick with it and told me I’ve got a long career doing it with the skills he saw that I had.”<\/p>\n
Former student Dylan Millar was a guest speaker at the ceremony after completing training at BGT Jobs and Training and going on to become a site trainer with Freighter Group.<\/p>\n
Mr Millar said the organisation provided a supportive environment, and undergoing training changed his life.<\/p>\n
“I think that passion came from having these guys and such a supportive environment,” he said.<\/p>\n
“I actually had no idea what I wanted to do when I left school, I dropped out and was not a school kid.<\/p>\n
“[BGT] changed my life in a massive way, and it was very unexpected.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
