Members of the Alfredton Rotary Club are looking to help everyone get into the Christmas spirit in time for the holidays.<\/p>\n

The non-profit is selling Christmas trees until the end of the month, which member Deb Robertson said was about bringing some festive cheer to the community while supporting Rotary projects.<\/p>\n

“I think having a natural Christmas tree adds to the holiday spirit,” she said.<\/p>\n

“If we can provide that to other families as well as having them support our community service, it’s a win-win.”<\/p>\n

Sourced from a supplier at Colac, the Christmas trees, which range from five feet to six feet, are $85, with a limited 20 stands also available for $65.<\/p>\n

Adding to the Christmas theme, the tree drive is being complemented with a wreath making workshop hosted between Alfredton Rotary’s Jill Oliver, and florist Kathryn Amor.<\/p>\n

“It’s a really fun day to be part of,” Ms Robertson said.<\/p>\n

“Last year, we did centrepieces and I was able to give mine to the aged care facility where my father-in-law is.<\/p>\n

“It’s a giving thing, you can either decorate your home or you can give it to someone else to pass on the Christmas spirit.”<\/p>\n

Tickets to the workshop are $80 including materials and lunch, and the session will be held on December 15.<\/p>\n

Proceeds from both initiatives will go towards Alfredton Rotary’s service projects both local and international.<\/p>\n

“There’s the sandwiches we deliver to 34 local primary schools… we’re heavily involved in the development of the Community Care Centre Ballarat,” Ms Robertson said.<\/p>\n

“We also have international projects; we’ve just sent a container to Vanuatu and we’ve also assisted the Sidinda Health Clinic to send a container to Zimbabwe.”<\/p>\n

The Christmas trees can be picked up on November 30 from 10am to 3pm at Community Care Centre Ballarat.<\/p>\n

The workshop will run from 11am to 3pm at 320 Wendouree Parade.<\/p>\n
