Ballarat’s iconic live music venues Volta, The Eastern, and Civic Hall are featured in the work while the guitar player mural piece emblazoned on Crossroads Music’s former Skipton Street storefront has also been replicated.<\/p>\n
The work also nods at local rock and metal acts Otrera, and Nicholas Cage Fighter.<\/p>\n
Hammonds, himself a musician, painted his own guitar clad with Ballarat-specific stickers into the bottom left of the piece, with the aim of presenting an intimate insight into the region’s live music scene.<\/p>\n
Commissions for the Annexe Wall are installed on a temporary basis, and City of Ballarat mayor Cr Tracey Hargreaves said the new mural is a great nod to Ballarat’s music-making community.<\/p>\n
“There are more than 120 pieces of public art placed throughout our city and surrounds to enjoy,” she said.<\/p>\n
