GUARD Nick Stoddart has re-signed with the Ballarat Miners for next year’s NBL1 South season while Tyler “Rudy” Rudolph has decided to retire from professional basketball.<\/p>\n
After joining the Miners last year, Stoddart averaged 14.7 points, three assists, and two point six rebounds per game while playing a critical role in the team making it to the NBL1 South conference final.<\/p>\n
He also won the male athlete community award 2024.<\/p>\n
Stoddart said he is looking forward to his return and he is the first player signed under head coach Luke Brennan for the upcoming season<\/p>\n
“I’m so excited to be returning to Minerland,” said Stoddart.<\/p>\n
“It’s such a special feeling to be able to represent the club and town for another season.<\/p>\n
“It was a simple decision to come back after last year and here’s hoping that we go one step further in 2025.”<\/p>\n
Rudolph has been with the Miners for two seasons winning back-to-back all-star five honours, and he said he is retiring to spend time with family in United States.<\/p>\n
“I’ve been really enjoying time back home with family, and I am excited to move on to life after basketball,” he said.<\/p>\n
“I just want to thank the Ballarat community for welcoming me in and supporting me over the two years I was there.<\/p>\n
“I appreciate the club, coaches, teammates, and fans for everything you’ve done for me.”<\/p>\n
Ballarat Basketball CEO Nev Ivey said Rudy will be missed but wished him well for the future.<\/p>\n
“Rudy has been a cornerstone of our club over the past two seasons, not just for his extraordinary performances on the court but also for his humility, leadership, and connection with our community,” he said.<\/p>\n
“While we are deeply saddened to see him retire, we fully support his decision and wish Rudy and his wonderful family all the best in their next chapter.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
