{"id":108608,"date":"2024-12-07T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-06T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=108608"},"modified":"2024-12-04T23:30:07","modified_gmt":"2024-12-04T12:30:07","slug":"forage-and-feast-to-boost-regions-produce-venues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/living\/forage-and-feast-to-boost-regions-produce-venues\/","title":{"rendered":"Forage and Feast to boost region&#8217;s produce, venues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Central Highlands Growers and Producers Hub will host Forage and Feast, a month-long food festival from 13 January to 16 February.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the program is to unite and highlight the region&#8217;s growers, producers, hospitality venues, the local food scene and agriculture industry.<\/p>\n<p>Across six local government areas, the festival will feature a program of 120 dining events, workshops and tours, with 60 Central Highlands growers and producers, and 43 businesses involved, including Ballarat&#8217;s Flying Chillies and Kilderkin Distillery.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2024\/12\/IMG_8112_08983.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Flying Chillies chef Lane Thompson cooks up a beef Rendang.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As part of the program, Kilderkin will host a Gin High Tea, which venue manager Lionel Draper said will feature produce from fellow members of the Central Highlands Growers and Producers Hub.<\/p>\n<p>Flying Chillies&#8217; Lilly Wright said her kitchen will be cooking up Balinese barbecue Rijsttafel on 19 January and 9 February.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ll be using local ingredients and blend them and complement them with the Balinese flavours,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ll be using produce from Luv-a-Duck, Sinclair Meats, Kilderkin Distillery and Itinerant Spirits and fresh produce from the Ballarat Farmers Market.
