{"id":108726,"date":"2024-12-13T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-12T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=108726"},"modified":"2024-12-11T18:53:28","modified_gmt":"2024-12-11T07:53:28","slug":"in-the-spirit-in-buninyong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/living\/in-the-spirit-in-buninyong\/","title":{"rendered":"In the spirit in Buninyong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GET into the Christmas spirit this weekend with a visit to the Buninyong Christmas Festival at the town hall before it closes on the evening of Sunday 15 December.<\/p>\n<p>Led by the Buninyong Town Hall Committee, the festival includes dioramas, displays and artworks, sales of handmade trees, gifts and treats, and Devonshire tea from the Buninyong CWA ladies.<\/p>\n<p>Families can also post a letter to Santa, get their photo taken with the jolly man in red, and take part in the Find the Elves of Buninyong trail.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Buninyong Christmas Festival involves the Buninyong Men&#8217;s Shed, the Buninyong Bowling Club, the CWA, Buninyong Community Events and all of Buninyong&#8217;s businesses and many community groups,&#8221; committee member Miranda Donald said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s not an overwhelming, loud or performance-based space but somewhere you can come in, send a letter to Santa, chill out for a while, have a scone and check out some work by creatives which are quite nostalgic.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_108728\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-108728\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-108728\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2024\/12\/IMG_8141_23153-e1733903500662.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2024\/12\/IMG_8141_23153-e1733903500662.jpg 800w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2024\/12\/IMG_8141_23153-e1733903500662-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2024\/12\/IMG_8141_23153-e1733903500662-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2024\/12\/IMG_8141_23153-e1733903500662-768x1152.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-108728\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Buninyong Town Hall Committee volunteers Ann Gooding and Mark Jones are looking forward to welcoming visitors.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The hall lends itself well to a quiet, reflective space.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Walk around town to find the elves of Buninyong. Maps are at all of the businesses in Buninyong and finished entry forms go back to the local servo.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a great multi-generational activity, the route is not too challenging and people can explore Buninyong in a very relaxed manner.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The festival is manned by committee volunteers, and the CWA&#8217;s scones will be served tonight (Friday 13 December), tomorrow and Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Donald said engaging the community in the town hall and activating the space is essential to its survival.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Historic places need to be used because that&#8217;s how they&#8217;re preserved \u2013 with more use,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Buninyong Christmas Festival has been made possible with backing from the State Government&#8217;s Tiny Towns Fund, the Buninyong Lions Club and Community Bank Buninyong.<\/p>\n<p>It is open from 10am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday, and from 10am until 8pm today.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GET into the Christmas spirit this weekend with a visit to the Buninyong Christmas Festival at the town hall before it closes on the evening of Sunday 15 December.
