CRESWICK’S Djuwang Baring trail network has opened to the public, providing riders of all ages with a place to get active.<\/p>\n
Member for Ripon Martha Haylett attended the opening last week along with representatives from the Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation (DJAARA), Hepburn Shire Council, and members of the community.<\/p>\n
Djuwang Baring means long track in Dja Dja Wurrung language and it includes more than 60 kilometres of trails that were designed in consultation with DJAARA.<\/p>\n
The State Government provided more than $2 million in funding for the project and Ms Haylett said the area is now a world class mountain biking destination.<\/p>\n
“The opening of the stunning Djuwang Baring cements Creswick’s position as one of our premier mountain biking destinations and speaks to what can be achieved when we partner with Traditional Owners in project delivery,” she said.<\/p>\n
The trail includes interpretive signage designed by DJANDAK, DJAARA’s business enterprise, that provide directions, safety advice and information about Country and culture.<\/p>\n
“Sharing Dja Dja Wurrung culture, creativity and language through this exciting project is enriching for Dja Dja Wurrung people and for all people who visit this newly activated park,” said DJAARA Group CEO Rodney Carter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
