A TAFE educator with Federation University has been named the best in his field at the 2024 Australian Training Awards.<\/p>\n
The institution’s information technology teacher, Dr Adam Bignold, took home the top spot with the Australian Teacher\/Trainer of the Year Award.<\/p>\n
Nominated for making the university’s Certificate IV in Cyber Security more accessible for mature-aged and neurodiverse students, Dr Bignold said the nod is testament to his commitment to his field.<\/p>\n
“This recognition reflects my passion for breaking barriers to study in the vocational education and training sector, ensuring all learners have access to education, and equipping them with real-world skills that deliver immediate value to industry,” he said.<\/p>\n
“Thank you to my students, my team, and industry partners for their support and collaboration.”<\/p>\n
Spotlighting the best of Australia’s vocational education and training sector, this year’s Australian Training Awards saw 75 finalists across the country competing for 16 accolades.<\/p>\n
Minister for Skills and Training Andrew Giles presented Dr Bignold with the award during a gala event at the National Convention Centre in Canberra earlier this month.<\/p>\n
Federation University Australia chief executive for TAFE and pro vice-chancellor for VET and university pathways Darren Gray congratulated his colleague on the win.<\/p>\n
