BALLARAT’S Itinerant Spirits is offering a new whiskey barrel experience linking back to a tradition that began more than one hundred and sixty years ago.<\/p>\n

Ballarat locals are being invited to take part in the barrel keeper experience where they can own one of the first 24 barrels of whisky crafted at the distillery.<\/p>\n

Each 100-litre barrel will have six names etched onto it and have a different flavour profile which will mature over a three-year period.<\/p>\n

Every six months, owners will have the opportunity to taste the whisky and experience its changes over time.<\/p>\n

“This isn’t just whiskey, it’s your whiskey,” James Fairlie, Itinerant Spirits’ head distiller said.<\/p>\n

“The barrel keeper experience is a way for locals to create their own legacy and be part of Ballarat’s whiskey revival.<\/p>\n

“This is a great opportunity for lovers of whiskey to share in a unique Ballarat experience. Barrels can be purchased by businesses, individuals and groups.”<\/p>\n

Itinerant Spirits has a focus on local products, utilising grains sourced from Ballarat’s 160-year-old Joe White Maltings and volcanic spring water from Black Mount Springwater in Millbrook.<\/p>\n

“Ballarat has a rich history of whiskey-making, and we’re proud to bring this tradition back to life,” Mr Fairlie said.<\/p>\n

“From sourcing ingredients to showcasing our whiskey on a global stage, every step of our journey is firmly rooted in Ballarat.<\/p>\n

“Locality and community are the heart of what we do.”<\/p>\n
