THE St Patrick’s College Flanagan Art Prize has received more than 200 entries from across Australia.<\/p>\n
The exhibition, which will include 98 shortlisted works, will open from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 March at St Patrick’s College and works will be available to purchase.<\/p>\n
Dr Vincent Alessi, the director of Linden New Art, will be this year’s guest judge and decide the winner of the $10,000 prize as well as other awards.<\/p>\n
The winner will be announced on Friday 21 March.<\/p>\n
“We are thrilled with the calibre of entries and the enthusiasm shown by artists from across the country,” St Patrick’s College principal Steven O’Connor said.<\/p>\n
“The Flanagan Art Prize not only celebrates artistic excellence but also provides our students and the wider community with an opportunity to engage with exceptional contemporary art.<\/p>\n
“We warmly invite everyone to visit the exhibition and experience the incredible talent on display.”<\/p>\n
Shortlisted artists include Indigenous creative Josh Deane, local ceramic artist Ruby Pilven, multimedia artist Lisa Anderson and Ballarat-born Kim Anderson.<\/p>\n
Art Prize coordinator Wendy Sheridan said it was exciting to see the high standard of entries.<\/p>\n
“The quality of the submissions has been outstanding, making the judging process incredibly competitive,” she said.<\/p>\n
“We have an exciting mix of mediums, styles and themes represented, showcasing both established and emerging artistic voices.<\/p>\n
