{"id":110814,"date":"2025-03-09T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-08T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=110814"},"modified":"2025-03-06T00:43:56","modified_gmt":"2025-03-05T13:43:56","slug":"cyclists-back-wrisc-on-eve-of-milestone-anniversary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/cyclists-back-wrisc-on-eve-of-milestone-anniversary\/","title":{"rendered":"Cyclists back WRISC on eve of milestone anniversary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SOCIAL bike riding group, the Ballarat Scenic Cyclists, have raised hundreds of dollars for agency WRISC Family Violence Support through their events and activities in 2024 and 2025.<\/p>\n<p>On behalf of the cyclists, member Gary Gunn handed over a cheque for $566.15 to WRISC CEO Libby Jewson on Monday morning by Lake Wendouree, a regular meeting spot for the group.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The funding donated will go towards our in-depth groups program and its resources for women and children in Ballarat and Bacchus Marsh,&#8221; Ms Jewson said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_110818\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-110818\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-110818\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2025\/03\/bsc_93726_tn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"391\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-110818\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Members of the group regularly enjoy scenic rides around the Ballarat region, and separate social outings and trips together. Photo: FILE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These groups are for people who have experienced family violence and are on their way to recovery, and working through their experience.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We know the value of a group; meeting people, being social, talking about experiences, and how important that is.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I also want to encourage the cycling! I&#8217;m a cyclist, since about 10 years of age&#8230; and when I retire in four weeks, I&#8217;m doing some more cycling.
