BROWN Hill’s Y Learn and Swim school has introduced an eight-week swimming course for adults to its programming.<\/p>\n

The Evening Adult Swimming Classes are designed to help adults who are not confident in the water to improve their skills.<\/p>\n

“We’ve heard from many families of children in our ELC and enrolled in our Swim School that they wish they were more competent in the water,” Y Learn and Swim’s Swim School coordinator Lucy Conn said.<\/p>\n

“Or that they felt more confident, especially when supervising their children or grandchildren at the pool, beach or on holidays.<\/p>\n

“Our new Evening Adult Swimming Classes are designed for beginners through to those wishing to improve their basic stroke technique.<\/p>\n

“With only up to seven people, the small classes will run after our centre’s other children’s programs finish, offering a really quiet and supportive environment.”<\/p>\n

The Evening Adult Swimming Classes are planned to run throughout the year in eight-week blocks, and are being led in a supportive and relaxed environment to ensure participants can strengthen their confidence in the water.<\/p>\n

Swim teacher of 30 years Linda Shannon is leading the classes, and her Austswim qualifications include the teaching of adults.<\/p>\n

“It’s all about being relaxed and comfortable in the water,” she said.<\/p>\n

“I like to build on the skills that people have and help them find enjoyment in aquatic environments.<\/p>\n

“It’s a progressive program in eight-week blocks, so you’ll get support whatever stage you’re at in your swimming journey.<\/p>\n

“Even if you haven’t been in the water for years or are a complete beginner, we’ve designed this program to take you from where you are.”<\/p>\n

The pool depth is .9 metres at the shallow end and 1.6 metres at the deep end.<\/p>\n
