ST John of God Ballarat Hospital has reached its 110th anniversary this month.<\/p>\n
Staff of the private institution, which has been serving the Ballarat community since 9 May 1915 in Bailey’s Mansion, marked the official birthday on Friday 9 May.<\/p>\n
They recognised the Sisters of its past, the healthcare workers, support staff, volunteers and patients in 2025, and all those in between.<\/p>\n
“We honour the contribution of the Sisters of St John of God, and all those who have come after them, for the enduring legacy they built in this community,” SJOG Ballarat chief executive officer Maria Noonan said.<\/p>\n
“We celebrate the journey and reaffirm our commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of Ballarat for generations to come.<\/p>\n
“We are not just celebrating our past, we are actively building for the future.<\/p>\n
“Every investment we make is about ensuring the people of Ballarat and surrounding areas continue to receive the highest quality care for the next 110 years and beyond.”<\/p>\n
Over the decades, SJOG Hospital has improved its facilities, services and technology to serve Ballarat’s growing population.<\/p>\n
For example, Marian House was opened in the 1960s to educate nurses, and more recently the new Wexford Wing was developed.<\/p>\n
It includes a new Intensive Care and Coronary Care Unit, two new operating theatres and recovery areas, a 30-bed inpatient ward, and state-of-the-art technology and spaces. “These enhancements ensure that Ballarat residents can access world-class care, close to home, in a setting that reflects the values of hospitality, compassion, respect, justice and excellence,” a hospital statement said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
