NOMINATIONS are open for this year’s City of Ballarat youth awards that celebrate outstanding young people from across the region.<\/p>\n

Nominations are open for those aged 12 to 25 and this year’s theme is ‘Ignite the Spark’, reflecting the power of young people to create change.<\/p>\n

The awards are planned and managed by the City of Ballarat’s Young Eventsters, a group of youth volunteers.<\/p>\n

Young Eventsters volunteer Ella said the awards are about reocgnising people creating positive change.<\/p>\n

“Ignite the Spark is about celebrating young people who are making a difference and inspiring others to do the same,” she said.<\/p>\n

“It’s about lighting the way for positive change in Ballarat and showing what’s possible when young people support each other.”<\/p>\n

The awards have operated since 2005 and recognise the leadership, creativity and kindness of young individuals and the adults who support them.<\/p>\n

“The Ballarat Youth Awards are a chance for our community to say, ‘We see you, and we appreciate you’,” mayor Cr Tracey Hargreaves said.<\/p>\n

“Many of our young people go above and beyond in our local community, whether that’s in their own personal circumstances or through volunteerism and active participation in sport and other areas of interest.”<\/p>\n

Nominations close Friday 6 June and the awards ceremony will be held Friday 8 August.<\/p>\n
