LEARMONTH has a new community skills shed that will serve as a hub for the residents to stay connected.<\/p>\n
The project, located at the Learmonth Recreation Reserve, includes a modern facility designed to contribute to improved physical and mental wellbeing for residents.<\/p>\n
It was funded by more than $535,000 from the City of Ballarat and $80,000 from the State Government, and includes a kitchen, an accessible toilet and a verandah.<\/p>\n
The shed will serve as a hub for activities including woodworking, metalwork and other creative pursuits.<\/p>\n
Community groups can also gather and host meetings.<\/p>\n
“It is fantastic to deliver such a vital community facility that the Learmonth community can feel proud of,” Cr Jim Rinaldi said.<\/p>\n
“This is so much more than just a shed, it will be a lively hub that will bring the community together and have wide-reaching benefits for the town.”<\/p>\n
Residents had previously used a private shed, which was not guaranteed for long-term use.<\/p>\n
Member for Ripon Martha Haylett said the shed will have long-term benefits to the township.<\/p>\n
“Our investment is supporting people to come together, share skills, and build friendships,” she said.<\/p>\n
