THE City of Ballarat’s updated Road Management Plan is open for community feedback.<\/p>\n

The document details the municipality’s standards for inspecting, maintaining and repairing the local road network.<\/p>\n

The updated plan includes proposed changes to inspection, maintenance and repair standards including inspection frequencies, compulsory intervention levels and response times.<\/p>\n

Director infrastructure and environment, Bridget Wetherall, said the plan is about ensuring local roads are safe and reliable.<\/p>\n

“Our roads connect every part of Ballarat, from our city to our suburbs, towns and rural communities,” she said.<\/p>\n

“The road management plan sets out the organisation’s maintenance management system and rules used to make decisions and meet obligations, within available resources.”<\/p>\n

The document is revised every four years following council elections to comply with Section 39 of the Victorian Government’s Road Management Act 2004.<\/p>\n

More than 1430 kilometres of roads are the responsibility of the City of Ballarat including link roads, collector roads, sealed and unsealed primary access roads, sealed and unsealed secondary access roads, ancillary areas, tracks and unused road reserves.<\/p>\n

State and arterial roads do not fall under the City of Ballarat’s obligations.<\/p>\n

Submissions can be made on the MySay<\/a> website or via post in writing, marked as Proposed Amendment to Road Management Plan and mailed to Governance and Risk, City of Ballarat, PO Box 655, Ballarat 3353 or emailed to info@ballarat.vic.gov.au.<\/p>\n
