{"id":114042,"date":"2025-07-13T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-12T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=114042"},"modified":"2025-07-11T16:07:32","modified_gmt":"2025-07-11T06:07:32","slug":"with-star-childrens-performer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/living\/with-star-childrens-performer\/","title":{"rendered":"Star children\u2019s performer brings Party tour to Her Majesty\u2019s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FORMER Yellow Wiggle Emma Watkins is expected to fill Her Majesty&#8217;s Theatre to the brim with ecstatic children when she brings her Emma Memma: Dance Island Party tour to town next week.<\/p>\n<p>She&#8217;ll be joined by her friends Elvin Melvin, BB Butterfly and Waffles the Wombat, plus an Auslan interpreter on the side of the stage.<\/p>\n<p>Watkins said the production is based on her album of the same name, released in March.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Since then we&#8217;ve had a huge influx of feedback from parents, educators and families listening to the songs and choosing their favourite ones,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sometimes when we write our music, we can predict which will be useful for a live audience and which are better used in the home or at daycare.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Actually, this time the album showed us a few songs that we didn&#8217;t think would be that (exciting), (and) the different perspectives amaze us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She described the show as a &#8220;musical adventure&#8221; with, for the first time, an element of &#8220;emotion&#8221; added.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s music, it&#8217;s song, it&#8217;s dance, and it&#8217;s sign language,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everything is very happy and joyful, which it always is, (but) I guess the stakes are higher for the characters, which we didn&#8217;t do before.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve never explored that with Emma and we&#8217;ve found that&#8217;s made the audience way more engaged.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I suppose every little element of drama, kids don&#8217;t hide things, you can see it on their faces.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s been a really nice change and I&#8217;m so glad we&#8217;ve been able to do it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Emma Watkins will perform Emma Memma: Dance Island Party twice on Thursday 17 July at Her Majesty&#8217;s Theatre, from 10am to 10.45am and 12.30pm to 1.15pm.<\/p>\n<p>Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/ballarat.sales.ticketsearch.com\/sales\/salesevent\/146245\">TicketSearch<\/a>\u00a0for tickets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FORMER Yellow Wiggle Emma Watkins is expected to fill Her Majesty&#8217;s Theatre to the brim with ecstatic children when she brings her Emma Memma: Dance Island Party tour to town next week.
