AN exhibition by Smythes Creek artist Vanessa Brady<\/a> is showcasing the transformation of her artistic style and native wildlife through acrylic paintings.<\/p>\n

Wild Metamorphosis<\/a> opens at Barkly Square on Saturday\u00a02\u00a0August and traces Brady\u2019s evolution since she returned to painting.<\/p>\n

It is her first solo exhibition and draws on Brady\u2019s background in industrial design, sculpture photography and her connections to local flora and fauna<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was sparked by Brady\u2019s involvement in the creative visionary program run by United States based artist Nicolas Wilton.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe creative visionary program that I\u2019d done in the first half of this year really made it obvious to me it\u2019s important to get your work out there,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause of that decision, I\u2019ve decided to demonstrate my whole process since I started to repaint.\u201d<\/p>\n

Over time, Brady has incorporated more textures and layering into her works although has remained focused on showcasing flora and fauna.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiving here on an acreage where I\u2019m surrounded by it, I do find it very inspirational,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy inspiration is sometimes from my photos and sometimes I literally walk outside and see something.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brady said she feels vulnerable showcasing some of her early works, but said it is important to share her journey.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like there\u2019s been a lot of personal growth and people will relate to that story,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think sharing that story of how you can just bite the bullet and start creating, no matter where you\u2019re at, is valuable.\u201d<\/p>\n
