ANDERSON’S Mill will soon have signage for a self guided walk thanks to a twenty-thousand-dollar grant from the State Government’s tiny towns fund.<\/p>\n
A further $2500 was provided by Community Bank Creswick and District, and $2500 of in-kind support from Parks Victoria to install the signs.<\/p>\n
The signage will help visitors identify each building and how they were used, with the mill dating to more than 150 years ago.<\/p>\n
It will also include new information about the role of women at the mill.<\/p>\n
“[Visitors will be able to] walk right around the site, look at all the buildings, work out what they were for and how it worked with the complex,” said Anderson’s Mill Heritage Weekend president Cheryl Just.<\/p>\n
“Also it will take them to the beautiful blue stone bridges and things that were built for transporting the agricultural products.”<\/p>\n
Current signage has deteriorated and become difficult to read.<\/p>\n
“The original signs have been there for many years and are mostly faded or unreasonable,” Ms Just said.<\/p>\n
“Most people who go down to the mill on their travels\u2026 there’s nothing to explain what the buildings were.”<\/p>\n
It is hoped the project will be completed in time for next year’s heritage weekend in May.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
