THE hosts and regular attendees of No Lights No Lycra Ballarat are celebrating ten years since the grassroots social ‘dancing in the dark’ movement came to town.<\/p>\n
Bec Perovic and Tristan James invite the community to a warm, welcoming dance party at the VRI Hall twice a month where people from all walks of life can dance freely away from a nightclub and without judgment.<\/p>\n
“Mr DJ and I would love to say a huge thank you to our lovely and loyal dancing babes and anyone who has danced with and supported us over the past decade,” said Ms Perovic.<\/p>\n
“The collective dance euphoria of NLNL is unbeatable. We are so grateful for the community support and welcome anyone to lose themselves or find themselves on our dancefloor.”<\/p>\n
Regulars of the local branch of the global NLNL movement enjoyed an official 10th birthday boogie earlier in the month.<\/p>\n
NLNL aims to promote mental and physical wellbeing through free-form dance in the dark.<\/p>\n
“There are no lights, no mirrors, no choreography, and no judgment, just music, movement, and connection,” Ms Perovic said.<\/p>\n
“We proudly welcome dancers of all ages, genders, nationalities, and sexualities. Whether you’re 17 or 70, a seasoned raver or a curious first-timer, you’ll find acceptance, connection, and belonging on our dancefloor.<\/p>\n
“More fun than the gym and cheaper than therapy.”<\/p>\n
NLNL is a special guest of the Ballarat International Foto Biennale and will be hosting the next three boogies (1 and 15 September, and 6 October) at the Mining Exchange.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
