WITH a new record set to drop, recent national exposure and an extremely tight performance schedule, the future’s looking bright for Ballarat outfit Confetti Western.<\/p>\n
“We’re about to hit Hobart for a pretty unhinged run, three shows in 24 hours, with our set at MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) being one of the highlights,” the band’s Kaine Hansen (aka Guttersnake) said.<\/p>\n
“We played MONA earlier this year in June as part of Dark Mofo, and they couldn’t wait to get us back, which is a huge honour.<\/p>\n
“These shows will also serve as a launchpad into our upcoming album campaign. The new record is set to drop early next year.”<\/p>\n
The band’s lineup features lead vocalist and crowd controller Guttersnake (aka Hansen), Saloon Dion (Jackson Cass) on synths and guitar, lead vocalist and dance commander Coq Dior (Patrick Ware) and Sheriff Cockeye (Griffin McGookin) on drums and percussion.<\/p>\n
Besides performing at Dark Mofo in Tasmania, Confetti Western has had plenty on its plate as it garners a reputation for high-energy shows blending rave and live band culture.<\/p>\n
They’ve supported the Rogue Traders at Civic Hall, performed at White Night Ballarat and had their music video played nationally on Rage.<\/p>\n
In July the band was also named among nine recipients to secure a 2024\/25 Creative Inspiration Grant through the City of Ballarat.<\/p>\n
“The grant was a real game-changer for us,” Hansen said.<\/p>\n
“It allowed us to film two involved, high-production music videos for singles from the upcoming album, both set to drop before the end of 2025.<\/p>\n
“We got to work with some incredible directors and film crew.”<\/p>\n
They were experiences “that have really lifted the band to another level,” Hansen said.<\/p>\n
For local fans that are loving Confetti Western’s work, and those who would like to know more about it, there’s good news ahead, Hansen confirmed.<\/p>\n
“For Ballarat audiences, we’ll be announcing a hometown show soon,” he said.<\/p>\n
