WRITER Rozzi Bazzani is headed to Ballarat to share insights into her new book One Night, a murder mystery based in suburban Melbourne.<\/p>\n
Set for next Wednesday 1 October at the Ballaarat Mechanics’ Institute, the In Conversation event will feature Bazzani talking about the creation of the story.<\/p>\n
In it, Detective Sergeant Bec Harpin answers a call for help from her friend, barrister Carolyn Moorhouse, and suddenly finds herself on the wrong side of an investigation that threatens to derail her career.<\/p>\n
Not only does Harpin have to decide how far she’ll go for a friend, she must also determine if her friend is guilty of a crime.<\/p>\n
Ahead of the In Conversation event, Bazzani said she’s very happy readers will “finally get a chance to read about the characters I have been sharing my life with for the last year”.<\/p>\n
“It is always exciting and a little terrifying to let ‘my people’ loose in the world but I do think that you will be taken in by Bec’s new cases,” she said.<\/p>\n
Before she came to writing full time Bazzani worked as a singer in the recording studio and on stages across Australia, Italy and Germany, using her voice for both spoken and sung commercial work.<\/p>\n
She provided backing for some of Australia’s best-known singers and supplied voices for anything from soap to sunglasses, and from face cream to dog food.<\/p>\n
She also graduated from Melbourne University, majoring in Romance Languages, Linguistics and Fine Art, which drew her down the path of writing.<\/p>\n
Bazzani’s first book, a fully researched biography of Australian television mogul Hector Crawford, won the Victorian Royal Historical Society Publication Prize.<\/p>\n
Her first work of fiction, The Piano Woman, was published in 2021 reflecting her lifetime love of music in a mystery romance, while her cold case mystery, Making Up Amanda, was set in Ballarat.<\/p>\n
Next Wednesday’s In Conversation event is part of the Victorian Seniors’ Festival program and will take place from 6pm to 7.30pm.<\/p>\n
