{"id":116146,"date":"2025-09-27T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-26T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=116146"},"modified":"2025-09-25T17:11:35","modified_gmt":"2025-09-25T07:11:35","slug":"free-sanitary-products-at-attractions-libraries-health-centres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/free-sanitary-products-at-attractions-libraries-health-centres\/","title":{"rendered":"Free sanitary products at attractions, libraries, health centres"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THREE new sanitary product vending machines at Sovereign Hill will assist women and girls visiting the outdoor museum.<\/p>\n<p>The free pad and tampon vending machines are supported by the State Government and aim to remove barriers women and girls may face to education, work and community life.<\/p>\n<p>Seventeen sanitary product vending machines have also been installed across Ballarat with more to come at Mars Stadium, Sebastopol Library, Grampians Health including the Queen Elizabeth Centre, and Ballarat Library.<\/p>\n<p>Minister for Women Natalie Hutchins visited Sovereign Hill last week to mark their installation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Pads and tampons are not a luxury, they&#8217;re a necessity \u2013 this rollout means women and girls right across Victoria won&#8217;t have to miss work or school because they can&#8217;t afford them,&#8221; Ms Hutchins said.<\/p>\n<p>More than 150,000 packs were dispensed across the state in the first year of the program.<\/p>\n<p>Local governments throughout Victoria were asked to nominate potential sites for the machines to ensure they match the community&#8217;s needs.<\/p>\n<p>To view a fill list of locations, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/freepadsandtampons.vic.gov.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">freepadsandtampons.vic.gov.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THREE new sanitary product vending machines at Sovereign Hill will assist women and girls visiting the outdoor museum.
