A NEW exhibition of work by members of the Soldiers Hill Artist Collective opens tomorrow, Saturday 4 October, at Ross Creek Gallery.<\/p>\n
The SHAC on TRACK exhibition features a diverse array of original art works by about 20 members of the well-established group whose members reside in Soldiers Hill.<\/p>\n
“We’ve got about 20 artists exhibiting,” said SHAC member Rosey King who will be among those with work on show.<\/p>\n
“There’s a lot of diversity. We’ve got photographers, fine art including paintings in watercolour, acrylics, oil, printmaking and textiles including weaving and embroidery on felt.<\/p>\n
“I’m a textile artist so I’m preparing some felted vessels that I do some stitching onto.”<\/p>\n
SHAC established itself a decade ago and right from the start has exhibited three to four times each year in Ballarat and the wider region.<\/p>\n
In recent times SHAC on TRACK has become the title for all of the collective’s regional exhibitions that have occurred in venues including the restored Willaura and St Arnaud railway stations, both of which now serve as community galleries.<\/p>\n
“We’ve had a great influx of new members over the last 18 months,” King said.<\/p>\n
“I think we’ve now probably got 30 to 35 members all up.”<\/p>\n
The show opens from 1pm tomorrow and will run until 19 October. Ross Creek Gallery’s open weekends, 11am to 4pm and by appointment, at 183 Post Office Road.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
