ARTIST Casey Tosh will present his latest exhibition, Merchants and Musicians, at The Old Butchers Shop Gallery, Soldiers Hill from tomorrow, Saturday 11 October, until Sunday 26 October.<\/p>\n
The show features portraits and places celebrating diverse individuals who contribute to the local community.<\/p>\n
In his work, Tosh has reflected on his years working as a waiter and barman and experience in the hospitality industry at the Novotel and Mercure hotels, and Dyers Steak Stable.<\/p>\n
“The idea of having the exhibition in The Old Butchers Shop came up in conversation with an art colleague,” he said.<\/p>\n
“There are portraits of local merchants, the chef, the baker, and the butcher who is the one supplying each rock star chef with the produce and quality product, allowing them to create delicious dishes and recipes.”<\/p>\n
The exhibition also incorporates portraits of musicians including Warren Ellis, a former Ballarat local who has left a significant mark on the Australian music scene and on Tosh’s artwork.<\/p>\n
“Through the exhibition I hope to capture the stories, character and dedication of these remarkable individuals,” Tosh said.<\/p>\n
Merchants and Musicians will be open each weekend from 12pm to 4pm at 112 Seymour Street, Soldiers Hill.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
