WRITER Judy Masters will be sharing insights behind the creation of her new book Winds of Change at the Ballaarat Mechanics’ Institute on Tuesday night, 21 October.<\/p>\n
Winds of Change is the fifth and final book in her much-loved Belleville series and is due for release mid-November.<\/p>\n
The series has won a legion of fans for Masters, who writes under the name J Mary Masters.<\/p>\n
Her prior books in the same series are Julia’s Story; To Love, Honour and Betray; Return to Prior Park; and Heirs and Successors.<\/p>\n
Her latest in the series is set in 1976, six years on from the end of Heirs and Successors and the Belleville siblings Richard, William and Julia are now in their 50s.<\/p>\n
After years of turmoil, life seems settled, except for a shocking betrayal that begins to unravel.<\/p>\n
As this betrayal is inevitably revealed, a child’s future hangs in the balance and cracks appear that threaten the Belleville family’s unity.<\/p>\n
“I will be talking about Winds of Change which is due for publication on November 14, but I will have advance copies for viewing,” Masters said.<\/p>\n
“I will also be talking about my writing career \u2013 10 years, seven books, one idea.”<\/p>\n
Masters was brought up in rural Queensland and only began writing later in life after retiring from full-time work in late 2017.<\/p>\n
Before dedicating herself to writing, she was the founding publisher of Australian Defence Magazine.<\/p>\n
“I write with women readers in mind and especially for those who grew up in the post-war era of 1950s and 1960s Australia,” she said.<\/p>\n
Masters is giving her talk at the BMI from 7pm as part of Ballarat Seniors Festival.<\/p>\n
