{"id":116632,"date":"2025-10-18T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=116632"},"modified":"2025-10-15T23:07:15","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T12:07:15","slug":"upgrades-boost-selkirk-stadium-fan-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/sport\/upgrades-boost-selkirk-stadium-fan-experience\/","title":{"rendered":"Upgrades boost Selkirk Stadium fan experience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A THREE-stage upgrade of Wendouree&#8217;s Selkirk Stadium will elevate the spectator experience at sports games, said Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison.<\/p>\n<p>The first of three works packages at the stadium \u2013 part of the Ballarat Sports and Events Centre \u2013 started last week, with Ballarat company Matthew Walsh Electrical appointed to deliver electrical and audio upgrades that will help future-proof the centre.<\/p>\n<p>All three stages are being fully funded from the State Government&#8217;s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program.<\/p>\n<p>The electrical and audio upgrades include expanded CCTV coverage, electronic scoreboard upgrades, extra wall-mounted speakers, swipe card access control and a new solar panel roof system.<\/p>\n<p>The improvements are expected to support televised events at the centre such as Ballarat Miners NBL1 games and the forthcoming WNBL fixture between Bendigo Spirit and Geelong Venom on 5 December.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Addison said the upgrades would make a difference for fans attending show court events, with better sound experience and public safety.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re thrilled to have local Ballarat-based Matthew Walsh Electrical on board to deliver these exciting upgrades that will create operational efficiencies for council and Ballarat Basketball Association as venue manager, while significantly enhancing the spectator experience for years to come,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2025\/10\/IMG_1987_82647.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"777\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison, outgoing Basketball Ballarat CEO Neville Ivey, and Matthew Walsh Electrical&#8217;s Matthew Walsh take a look at upgrade plans.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Matthew Walsh Electrical has provided services in the region for more than 17 years.<\/p>\n<p>The company specialises in commercial projects, and in 2023 delivered the electrical works for the Victoria Park Sports Pavilion.<\/p>\n<p>Further upgrades at the stadium include improved accessibility, heating and cooling upgrades, pedestrian access, a mobile broadcast platform and show court lighting.<\/p>\n<p>The Selkirk Stadium upgrade is one of three Ballarat projects currently underway being funded from the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program.<\/p>\n<p>Work is continuing on 5000 new permanent seats at Mars Stadium, along with new amenities and improved accessibility.<\/p>\n<p>A new athletics track, spectator pavilion and seating, lighting and storage facilities are being built at the former Ballarat Showgrounds site.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A THREE-stage upgrade of Wendouree&#8217;s Selkirk Stadium will elevate the spectator experience at sports games, said Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison.
