CRESWICK Garden Club is presenting lots of new green spaces as part of this year’s Creswick Garden Lovers’ Weekend over 8 to 9 November.<\/p>\n

Now in its 10th year, the program features new gardens all opening up to the public along with firm favourites that have featured previously and have evolved since.<\/p>\n

Funds raised are used for local Creswick projects, and to ensure the event is sustainable.<\/p>\n

“We had close to 2000 people over the weekend last time and we’re expecting the same this time,” said the Garden Club’s secretary Leanne Murray, who is managing the flower show that also runs as part of the weekend in the Creswick Neighbourhood Centre hall.<\/p>\n

“We’ve invited all local primary schools to participate and anyone can enter.<\/p>\n

“The local florist is sponsoring a competition and there’s some good prizes.<\/p>\n

“We’ve got a big program schedule available on our website and our massive plant sale will be at Coopers Reserve near the Information Centre on the Saturday. It’s a great weekend for our club.”<\/p>\n

For many garden lovers the weekend is the chance to visit some of the area’s best commercial and private gardens.<\/p>\n

Spring Park Nursery at Eganstown is part of the weekend, as is Mollongghip’s Secret Garden, which is holding a garden party.<\/p>\n

“They’re giving a donation from each ticket sold and we are working together with any profits we make put back into the community,” Ms Murray said.<\/p>\n

New private gardens opening for the weekend include Allendale Native and Habitat Plants, Diss’ildo, Koorrnong and Lindsays Road Garden.<\/p>\n

Old favourites returning include BeauVue, Seven Hills Watergarden and flower-filled Shirley’s Garden located just out of Creswick at Broomfield.<\/p>\n

This year’s opening of Shirley Minster’s garden honours the wishes of her late husband, James, who helped her create it over more than 30 years and who passed away in recent weeks.<\/p>\n
