and Feast celebrates regional food"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IT isn\u2019t long until local food, drink, and fresh produce will be celebrated as part of Commerce Ballarat\u2019s Forage and Feast Festival.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative was launched on Tuesday at The Goods Shed with the unveiling of the festival program, stalls with local artisan producers, and a live chef challenge with representatives from each region across the Central Highlands.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat people are after is that human connection, that story,\u201d food writer Richard Cornish said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cForage and Feast is about the best chefs working with the best producers\u2026 they are going to put that together and put it on the plate, on the table in front of people in a very special way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are going to pull out all the stops to make people feel welcome.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2025\/11\/ff3_45921.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Brendon and Dee Lawlor from Wombat Forest Vineyard.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The festival will run from Monday 12 January to Sunday 15 February 2026 with masterclasses, tastings, curated degustation lunches and dinners, and farm tours.<\/p>\n<p>There will be more than 130 events held across six Local Government Areas such as a cooking class at The Plough @ Myrniong, a picnic on Nimmons Bridge organised by the Woady Yaloak Historical Society, and spirited food pairings at Itinerant Spirits.<\/p>\n<p>Black and Ginger Wines, based in Pomonal, will be hosting an event collaborating with Barney&#8217;s Bar and Bistro.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 596px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img 1000 cases a year and we focus on alternative varieties, particularly whatever we can source in the Grampians,\u201d Lucy Black, sales manager said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are offering a new experience\u2026 we are pairing our Italian varietal wines with three antipasti dishes prepared by Alton who\u2019s a chef at Barney\u2019s which is the venue next door to us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s
