{"id":117585,"date":"2025-11-26T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-25T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=117585"},"modified":"2025-11-26T12:03:03","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T01:03:03","slug":"masquerade-ball-to-mark-idpwd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/masquerade-ball-to-mark-idpwd\/","title":{"rendered":"Masquerade ball to mark IDPwD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TO celebrate International Day of People with Disabilities, Pinarc Disability Support leadership group MyVoice will host a Masquerade Ball on Friday 5 December.<\/p>\n<p>There will be door prizes, finger food and drinks at bar prices.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is the first time we have held an event like the Masquerade Ball in this format,&#8221; Carlee from MyVoice said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The group is excited to help shape it and see it come to life.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Masquerade Ball is a celebration of inclusion, community connection, and achievement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It brings together participants, families, staff and supporters for an evening of fun, recognition and social opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The event aims to create a welcoming space where everyone can enjoy a formal night out, express themselves, and feel part of a wider community.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The participants have been involved in every planning aspect of the event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This includes contributing ideas for themes, decorations, accessibility considerations, making phone calls, booking event space, band and DJ, and supporting set-up on the day.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Not-for-profit organisation Pinarc has been providing disability support services and therapy to children, teens, adults, families and carers since 1999.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The MyVoice Program is about advocacy, accessibility, and giving back to the community,&#8221; Carlee said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Over the past year they have been involved in many activities, including volunteering and fundraising, raising donations for the Ballarat Soup Bus and Shower Bus, and speaking with Federation University students undertaking disability support courses.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Masquerade Ball is open to people with or without a disability, families, friends, carers and support workers.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $25 per adult and $15 for support workers, carers or Companion Card holders.<\/p>\n<p>The ball will be held at North Ballarat Sports Club from 6pm to 10pm.
