THE City of Ballarat has evolved how it is distributing the ourballarat magazine for environmental benefits and cost savings.<\/p>\n

The 16-page magazine is produced every three months to provide up-to-date information to ratepayers about City news, services, programs, initiatives and events.<\/p>\n

Starting from the summer 2025\/26 edition, the magazine will no longer be mailed to every house, and residents can now elect to receive it by one of three ways.<\/p>\n

Mayor Cr Tracey Hargreaves said the changes are about providing choice and saving ratepayers money.<\/p>\n

“I am really pleased to announce that from summer onwards, we’ll be providing residents with more choices in the way they receive the ourballarat magazine both digitally and in print form,” she said.<\/p>\n

“These distribution changes are in keeping with the consultation undertaken in 2023\/24, which showed most respondents prefer to read ourballarat as a printed magazine.<\/p>\n

“By providing these options, we also expect to make savings as a result of not printing and mailing 55,000 copies of the magazine to each household.<\/p>\n

“In fact, council identified this change as a specific cost saving initiative that has helped us deliver an average zero per cent rate increase.”<\/p>\n

Residents can read the magazine any time on the City of Ballarat website where there is also bonus content like videos, photo galleries and more.<\/p>\n

The City of Ballarat’s social media will provide updates about when the latest editions are releasing.<\/p>\n

Residents can also sign up to receive a digital copy in their inbox by filling out the online subscription form on the eServices site.<\/p>\n

Paper copies of the magazine can be picked up at Ballarat Library, Sebastopol Library, Wendouree Library, Stockland Wendouree Shopping Centre, Customer Service at the Phoenix Building, and in this special edition of The Ballarat Times.<\/p>\n

If residents would prefer to get a physical copy mailed to them, they can do so by calling the customer service team on 5320 5500 or filling out an online subscription form on the City of Ballarat website.<\/p>\n

Consultation conducted in 2023 and 2024 found that from 669 responses, 65 per cent of postcard survey respondents and 43 per cent of online MySay survey respondents would prefer to read a printed ourballarat magazine.<\/p>\n

Of postcard survey respondents, 17 per cent said they would prefer to read it online while 34 per cent of online MySay respondents said the same.<\/p>\n

Those who said they would prefer to read it in both print and online formats were 18 per cent of postcard survey respondents and 13.5 per cent of online MySay respondents.<\/p>\n
