THE Ballarat Base Hospital Trained Nurses League recently held its 96th Annual Reunion at the Ballarat Golf Club.<\/p>\n
More than 120 people attended the event which included an annual general meeting and a lunch.<\/p>\n
“Many travelled from interstate to be there, some celebrating special milestones, including schools who completed their training from 40 to 70 years ago,” said league projects officer Trina Jones.<\/p>\n
“On the day, the Joanne Gilbert Scholarship, a biannual scholarship for registered midwives at Grampians Health Ballarat, was presented to the successful two applicants, Georgia Trigg and Kerrie Walsh.<\/p>\n
“The memorial scholarship was presented by Julie Brusaschi, Joanne’s mother who introduced the recipients and wished them well in their future education endeavours supported by the scholarship.”<\/p>\n
The reunion’s guest speaker was Grampians Health’s chief nursing and midwifery officer Leanne Shea who spoke about nurse education and the redevelopment of the Ballarat Base Hospital.<\/p>\n
“Many friendships were reunited by the event and we encourage other past trainees to attend next year,” Ms Jones said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
