{"id":117934,"date":"2025-12-09T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-08T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=117934"},"modified":"2025-12-04T09:15:26","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T22:15:26","slug":"outstanding-mentor-recognised-for-dedication","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/outstanding-mentor-recognised-for-dedication\/","title":{"rendered":"Outstanding mentor recognised for dedication"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>YOUNG drivers in Ballarat are more confident thanks to mentorship from Samantha Milne who was recently named L2P Mentor of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>Through the Ballarat Foundation, the L2P Program pairs volunteer mentors with young people who do not have access to a supervising driver or suitable vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Offering guidance, encouragement and support, the mentors help learner drivers gain the 120 hours of supervised driving needed to obtain their licence.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Milne was recognised at the Department of Transport and Planning&#8217;s statewide L2P Conference, recognising her dedication to supporting learner drivers in the Ballarat region.<\/p>\n<p>Known for her warmth, optimism and quiet determination, Ms Milne has been a volunteer with the program for seven years.<\/p>\n<p>Not only has Ms Milne helped young drivers build confidence in themselves, but she also stays connected to every young person she has mentored.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2025\/12\/SamMilneandPadmaGiri_17724.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Encouragement, guidance and support: Samantha Milne, with L2P Program Manager Padma Giri, has been awarded L2P Mentor of the Year for her dedication and support of young drivers in the Ballarat region.
