AS the height of the summer fire season approaches, Central Highlands Water staff are asking the community to plan ahead to ensure they have an adequate water supply.<\/p>\n

Customers in a bushfire-prone area should make sure they can access an alternative water supply, as during emergencies and power outages water supply and pressure cannot be guaranteed.<\/p>\n

Central Highlands Water works to plan for fire, flood and other emergencies, and collaborates with fire agencies, local government and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action.<\/p>\n

“Our priority is the safety of our customers and communities,” Central Highlands Water managing director Jeff Haydon said.<\/p>\n

“While we work hard to prepare our infrastructure for emergency events, we strongly encourage everyone to have their own bushfire plan that includes securing an independent water source.”<\/p>\n

More information about preparing a water supply for emergencies can be found on the Central Highlands Water<\/a> and Fire Rescue Victoria<\/a>\u00a0websites.<\/p>\n

Customers are also asked to follow permanent water saving rules such as using a bucket or handheld hose fitted with a trigger nozzle when washing a car, using watering systems only between 6pm and 10am, and using recirculated water for water features or fountains.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
