FROM 1 November, with the introduction of the new Aged Care Act, the way older Australians access support in the home will change.<\/p>\n

The national Support at Home program will replace the current Home Care Package and Short-Term Restorative Care programs.<\/p>\n

For many in our community, this transition may bring some understandable uncertainty.<\/p>\n

Ballarat Community Health (BCH) wants to reassure you that it is well placed to guide you through these changes and will continue delivering holistic care that is tailored, person-centred and trusted.<\/p>\n

For BCH, home care is not just about services \u2013 it is about people.<\/p>\n

BCH takes a whole-of-person approach to wellbeing, ensuring that each package is managed with dignity and with the individual’s life goals at the centre.<\/p>\n

Its role is to walk alongside you, making sure you feel supported, connected, independent and confident at home.<\/p>\n

Christine, one of BCH’s valued clients, knows this first-hand.<\/p>\n

A retired nurse, Christine has spent her life caring for others. These days she finds joy and independence in her artwork, which provides her with peace and a strong sense of purpose.<\/p>\n

Maintaining this connection to creativity is vital for her wellbeing, and the BCH team makes sure that her support plan reflects that.<\/p>\n

Christine has had two providers in the past, but she describes her experience with BCH as “nothing but supportive and encouraging”.<\/p>\n

She said: “I’ve loved all the people I have met. I’m impressed with the staff’s enthusiasm and what they are doing for the community. I have been linked with other services but this is by far the best. I feel connected\u2026 I felt an immediate connection.”<\/p>\n
